The college has taken an important step towards promoting the mental health and overall well-being of its students by initiating in-House psychological counselling sessions from 8th September 2026. The initiative was officially launched by the faculties of the Department of Psychology cum the Joint Counselor of the College Neetimoni Sonowal and Saujanya Baruah in collaboration with Counselling Cell with the objective of providing students with a safe, supportive, and confidential space where they can openly discuss their personal, emotional, social, and academic concerns.
The introduction of an in-house counselling facility also reflects the college’s commitment to creating a healthy and supportive campus environment. The confidentiality of the sessions will be maintained, thereby encouraging students to approach the counselling service without hesitation.
The counselling sessions will continue regularly in the future, according to the allotted time slots and schedules previously shared by the department. Students are encouraged to make use of the service whenever they feel the need for personal guidance or emotional support.
The response from the students following the initial sessions was highly positive. Students expressed that the sessions provided them with a sense of comfort and emotional support. . Overall, the commencement of the in-house psychological counselling service marks a meaningful step towards building a campus culture where mental health is acknowledged, conversations are encouraged, and students know that support is available when they need it.
