Brief Report on Observation of World Philosophy Day 2025

The Department of Philosophy, MDKG College, observed World Philosophy Day 2025 with a programme held on 20th November 2025. The event commenced with a welcome address delivered by the Head of the Department, Dr. Rupali Majumder, who highlighted the crucial role of philosophy in shaping the future of human society and fostering reflective, responsible, and enlightened citizenship. Faculty member Ms. Nilufar Rahman addressed the gathering with an insightful speech on the importance of morality and values in human life as essential foundations for a better and more compassionate world.

As part of the observance, a paragraph writing competition was organised among students, on the topic “Importance of Morality and Values in Human Life for Shaping the Future of Society.” Students participated with enthusiasm, and the winners were awarded with  certificates of merit. Additionally, several students delivered short speeches on the theme “Role of Philosophy in Creating a Harmonious, Peaceful and Inclusive World.”

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by one of the faculty members Ms. Bonti Dutta, who expressed gratitude to all participants and contributors for making the event meaningful and successful.

This observance of World Philosophy Day 2025 reaffirmed the department’s commitment to promoting philosophical awareness, ethical values, and critical thinking among students for the advancement of society.
