Celebration of International Women’s Day 2026
The Internal Complaint Committee (ICC), CWSD, Women’s Cell (ACTA) and celebrated International Women’s Day (IWD) on 10th March 2026. On this occasion, UDDIPANA, the wall magazine of the ICC was inaugrated by the Principal, Dr. A.J. Bharali at 10.10 AM. This issue of Uddipana had articles, poems and art conforming to this year’s IWD theme “Give to Gain”. It had been prepared by Pushpanjali Chetry, the Vice President (MDKGCSU) and Member (ICC). This was followed by programme comprising of a talk and prize distribution. The programme began by the host, Shrutimala Bharali, Asst. Prof., Dept of English who is also the Co-ordinator of CWSD, MDKG College welcoming the audience. Dr. A.J.Bharali, Principal of MDKG College in his inaugural speech emphasised the importance of promoting euqlity, respect and opportunities for women and girls in all spheres of life. This was followed by a talk titled “Rights, Justice, Action for all Women and Girls: Give to Gain” by the reknowned academician Prof. Daisy Bora Talukdar, Professor, Department of Education, Dibrugarh University. She is also the Presiding Officer of the ICC of the university.
In her talk, the Resource Person highlighted the journey of IWD and finally coming to the IWD 2026 theme “Give to Gain” . The speaker urged the students and audience to become active agents of change by promoting respect, equality and support for women in every sphere of life. She also pointed out that when society invests in the well-being and development of women and girls, the entire community benefits- hence the idea ” Give to Gain”.
This enlightening deliberation was followed by a lively interaction among the students and faculties present.
On 6th March a poster, slogan and essay writing competition on the occasion of IWD had been organised by the MDKGSU. The winners of the competitions were handed out their trophies and certificates on 10th March after the talk by Principal Sir, the resource person and the Presiding Officer of the ICC.
